A quick note about last fm
Some functionality will not be available unless javascript is enabled. If Javascript is not enabled, you will still be able to see the charts, just not listen to the previews.
I recently discovered this website quite by accident. I am not even sure how I ran across it. I had heard a little about it, but I thought that it was only a radio station that you had to pay for to access.
Boy was I wrong
I signed up for the service to see what it was all about, and becuase the page said:
After installing an Audioscrobbler plugin for your media player (eg: iTunes, Winamp, XMMS), the name of every song you listen to on your computer will be sent to Last.fm and added to your profile.
The list at the top of your profile page shows the last 10 songs you listened to. The top song is hilighted if you are currently listening.
Even if your taste in music is ridiculously eclectic, or just downright ridiculous, you should find matches to people with a similar taste. There are a lot of people here with some very ‘unusual’ listening habits
Well, that was interesting to me, as I am constantly on my iTunes listening to music; not to mention the amount of use my iPod gets. It is actually a little sad how much that thing gets used. I even take it to bed with me.
So after experimenting with the audioscrobbler a little, I found that this thing was pretty cool. I even invited one of my buddies to join (we will see if he does). There are a couple of things that you should know before you begin. If you use your iPod a lot (as I said, I do) then the default plugin that you download and use will not suffice. Download this one instead by jbmendelson.

The chart below shows the last 10 tracks that I have played off my iTunes or my iPod. There is generally a little delay, so this might not be 100% accurate.
